Fairways are in terrible shape, dandelions, thistle are all over the fairways and even in the sand traps. Most sand traps are overrun with weeds. Must use a cart as distance from green to next tee is longer on most holes than distance from tee to green. This course needs major TLC and soon or it will not see any golf traffic.

Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Worse than average course for the area

This course has some serious condition problems. Weeds and dandelions everywhere, no discernible fairway, grass/weeds growing in the bunkers, brown greens - a real horror show. It was so bad I tweeted Gary Player to make him aware. He responded with an apology and confirmed he was aware of the condition issues and had been working hard to get the course to improve with no success. My recommendation is that you stay away until the management makes a commitment to improve. Don't be fooled by the Gary Player name like I was.

Distances between holes is ridiculous! Carts are a must. Decent course, but costs too much for what it is. I would play again if it was in the $30-35 range, but $44??? Cmon....

Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby

Sumo is a completely open golf course, so play is affected by the wind. Course conditions are average. However, quick pace of play and value make up for some of the below average fairway and green conditions. This course is a challenging and fun layout. Be sure you get a cart!! the distance between some holes is much to long to walk, you will be passed by carts before you arrive to the next tee box.

Something to think about during winter, When Denver/Colorado Springs get snow, this place is usually open for play. Watch the weather reports. High winds can be a factor.
